Enrollment in Claiborne Parish School District schools increased over previous year

The only school district in Claiborne Parish had rising enrollment in the 2021-22 school year, according to the Louisiana Department of Education.

There were 1,710 students in the halls of Claiborne Parish School District schools, 0.6% higher than the year before.

Enrollment in Claiborne Parish bucked the state’s trend of decreasing enrollment.

Out of all the students welcomed in the 2021-22 school year, 51.3% of them were girls, and 48.7% were boys.

Data also showed that most of the students were Black or African American, representing 66.9% of the Claiborne Parish School Districts total enrollment.

Claiborne Parish School District has a main office in Homer and is the only school district within Claiborne Parish.

Only 22% of Louisiana’s teachers are Black or Latino, compared to about 48% of the state's K–12 students who identify as either race.

The majority of Louisiana students were either white (48%) or Black (37%) in the 2021-22 school year.
