Willie D. Davis was born on July 24, 1934, in Lisbon, Louisiana. He played college football at Grambling State University. Davis was drafted by the Cleveland Browns in the 15th round of the 1956 NFL Draft. After serving two years in the U.S. Army, he joined the Browns in 1958. In 1960, he was traded to the Green Bay Packers, where he played until 1969. Davis was a key player in the Packers’ defense during their Super Bowl victories. He was named to five Pro Bowls and five All-Pro teams. Davis was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1981. After retiring from football, he became a successful businessman. He owned several radio stations and served on the boards of various companies. Throughout his life, he maintained a strong connection to his roots in Lisbon, often reflecting on how his upbringing shaped his character and success.
