Louisiana Tech University has been named to Forbes’ America’s Top Colleges list, one of only two public universities recognized in the state.
The University is 47th nationally – among all universities on the list – for lowest average debt for graduates. The honor comes on the heels of Louisiana Tech’s 12th consecutive year being named a Top Tier National University in the U.S. News and World Report Best Colleges list.
Only four universities in Louisiana were named to the list that recognizes “schools that offer an excellent education at a great price, graduate high-earners and propel students to become successful entrepreneurs and influential leaders in their fields.”
“The Forbes list recognizes universities for their efforts to increase retention and graduation rates, as well as the success of their graduates,” said Dr. Les Guice, University President. “Louisiana Tech’s retention rates and time to graduation lead our state, and our faculty and staff continue to work to increase access for students and to connect them with services and activities that help ensure their success while here.”
Forbes chose “doctoral research universities, master’s universities and colleges and baccalaureate colleges, as well as colleges that offered specialized programs in engineering, business and art.” To qualify for the list, information focused on retention rate, academic success, graduate debt, alumni salaries, graduation rates, return on investment, and leadership and entrepreneurial success of graduates – data from the Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System (IPEDS), College Scorecard, and PayScale – were used.
