Minnesota Representative Michelle Fischbach said that her visit to Alexandria Technical and Community College highlighted robust training programs and legislative efforts aimed at supporting future law enforcement officers.

“It was great to see the law enforcement training center at ATCC, where they train future officers to support the district, state, and beyond,” said Michelle Louise Fischbach. “We had the opportunity to discuss the program’s upcoming Global Military Learning Network, which will support service members seeking college degrees. I sponsored and am working to pass legislation which would create a Law Enforcement Education Grant program for students pursuing a career in law enforcement.”

Alexandria Technical and Community College (ATCC) in Alexandria, Minnesota, offers specialized training for law enforcement professionals. The college has long partnered with public safety agencies across the state and continues to expand its programs to prepare students for modern policing challenges.

According to ATCC, its Law Enforcement program is among the largest in Minnesota, producing approximately 15% of the state’s new police graduates each year. The curriculum combines classroom study with field simulations and tactical training in collaboration with local departments.

The proposed Law Enforcement Education Grant program aims to provide financial aid to students pursuing degrees in criminal justice or police science. This initiative seeks to address recruitment and retention challenges faced by public safety sectors nationwide.

Fischbach, a Republican representing Minnesota, was elected to Congress in 2020 after serving as Minnesota’s lieutenant governor and state senator. Her focus includes education, rural development, and initiatives supporting law enforcement.

Minnesota is a Midwestern state characterized by a mix of urban and rural communities. It maintains a strong commitment to education and public safety, with technical colleges like ATCC playing a central role in workforce development and law enforcement training.
