Louisiana Tech softball player Reagan Marchant has been named Conference USA Player of the Week, according to an announcement from the league office on Monday.
Marchant, who was previously selected as the CUSA Preseason Player of the Year, had a strong performance at the plate over six games. She recorded eight hits in 20 at-bats, resulting in a .400 batting average. During this stretch, she drove in nine runs and scored three times. Marchant also hit three home runs during the Mardi Gras Mambo tournament.
Her contributions included two multi-hit games: two hits against Eastern Illinois and three against St. Thomas. In addition, she drove in two runs during a win over New Mexico and added three RBI in a victory over Georgia State.
A key moment came when Marchant hit a solo home run in the bottom of the seventh inning against New Mexico, securing a 4-3 walk-off win for Louisiana Tech.
Defensively, Marchant played first base without committing any errors and made 40 putouts across six games.
For the season so far, Marchant is batting .353 with 12 hits in 34 at-bats. She has driven in 10 runs and scored seven times, recording five extra-base hits that include three home runs and two doubles.
