New York City-based Empire Wild, a genre-bending, crossover trio, brings their “No Place Like Home” program to Louisiana Tech and Howard Auditorium at 7 p.m. Tuesday.

The free concert is sponsored by the Louisiana Tech Concert Association.

The trio — Ken Kubato and Mitch Lyon on cello and Holly Bean on vocals and piano — fuse the sounds of pop, folk, jazz, and more into both their songwriting and their unique sound and instrumentation.

Empire Wild was selected as an Ambassador Prize winner in the 2020 Concert Artists Guild Victor Elmaleh Competition. The trio this fall completed a Midwest tour through 10 states and, along the way, shared with students in several educational, community-oriented workshops.

In their “No Place Like Home” program, Empire Wild puts their own spin on classic songs, a collection of their favorites with fresh arrangements and their signature flair. The Valentine’s Day program will cover some Empire Wild originals plus classics, including Over the Rainbow, Moon River, and S’ Wonderful.
