Louisiana Tech University announced on April 14 that its women’s tennis team swept both Conference USA Women’s Tennis weekly awards after securing two road victories over the weekend.
The recognition highlights the team’s strong finish to the regular season, which saw them defeat Georgia State and Kennesaw State. These achievements underscore the team’s momentum as they head into the upcoming conference tournament.
Zoie Epps was named Conference USA Athlete of the Week after winning both her singles matches at the No. 1 position, defeating Maria Paredes of Georgia State and Ema Baraniakova of Kennesaw State. Epps has now improved her record to 16-1 this spring and is on a 13-match winning streak heading into postseason play. The doubles team of Alice Brook and Maria Tsironi earned Conference USA Doubles Team of the Week honors by going undefeated in their matches at No. 2 doubles, including a shutout against Georgia State and a solid win over Kennesaw State. The duo finished with an unblemished record against conference opponents during regular season play.
This marks Epps’ fifth time receiving a weekly award from Conference USA this season, with three for Doubles Team of the Week and two for Athlete of the Week. For Brook and Tsironi, it is their second Doubles Team honor overall but first for this season.
Looking ahead, Louisiana Tech enters the Conference USA Women’s Tennis Championship as the top seed and will face either Western Kentucky University or Sam Houston on Thursday, April 16 in Murfreesboro, Tennessee.
The recent honors reflect not only individual excellence but also teamwork that positions Louisiana Tech as a strong contender in postseason competition.
