Louisiana Tech’s women’s tennis team secured its first true road win of the season with a 7-0 sweep over UT Arlington on Sunday at the UTA Tennis Center. The victory brings LA Tech’s record to 4-2 and marks their third consecutive win against UT Arlington, which now stands at 2-5.
The Bulldogs started strong in doubles play. Alice Brook and Maria Tsironi won 6-1 at the No. 2 spot, marking their 15th career victory as a pair. Zoie Epps and Isabella Walker, recently named CUSA Doubles Team of the Week, clinched the doubles point with a 6-2 win at No. 1.
In singles matches, Epps defeated Elizave Mladentseva on court one with a score of 6-1, 6-0, earning her 40th career dual singles victory. Walker continued her successful freshman season by beating Tasnime Ahamout 6-4, 6-1 on court six. June Vigneron secured the deciding point for LA Tech with a straight-set win over Flora Farkaslaki (7-5, 7-5) on court four.
The remaining singles matches also went in favor of Louisiana Tech. Diana Starodubtseva won at No. 2 (6-1, 3-6, 6-1), Tsironi prevailed at No. 3 (6-3, 2-6, 6-2), and Mio Kozaki earned a comeback victory in her first dual singles match of the season (5-7, 7-5, [7]).
LA Tech will continue its road trip Monday against North Texas in Denton at noon CT.
