Louisiana Tech’s women’s tennis team secured a 4-1 victory over Middle Tennessee on Wednesday at the MTSU Tennis Complex, completing a sweep of their three-match road trip. This win marks the sixth consecutive victory for LA Tech, improving their season record to 9-2 overall and 2-0 in Conference USA play.

During doubles competition, LA Tech fell behind early on courts one and two but rallied to win both matches. The No. 1 pair of Zoie Epps and Isabella Walker, ranked 70th nationally, overcame a 0-3 deficit to claim a 6-4 win. Maria Tsironi and Alice Brook clinched the doubles point with another 6-4 victory at No. 2 after breaking a tie at four games each.

In singles play, Epps, Walker, and Tsironi all contributed points for the Bulldogs. Epps was named CUSA Athlete of the Week during the match and defeated Lena Peyer 6-2, 6-0 on court one. Tsironi extended LA Tech’s lead by beating Sara Conden in straight sets on court four. Middle Tennessee got their only point from a comeback win on court two, but Walker secured the overall victory for LA Tech with an 0-6, 6-4, 6-1 comeback against Zenn Lim on court six.

Head coach Amy Sargeant said: “This road trip was more than just a series of matches, it was a statement about who we are and where we are headed. Every time we step on the court, we grow. We are learning our strengths, sharpening our weapons, and building a standard that gets stronger with each opportunity to compete.”

She added: “I could not be prouder of this team’s fight, their resilience in tough moments, and their composure under pressure. We do not just show up, we battle, we stay connected, and we find ways to win. This group is special. There is confidence building in this team, and it is exciting to watch. Now, we regroup and bring that same energy back home. Excited for the next stretch in front of our home crowd.”

With this result, LA Tech narrows its all-time deficit against Middle Tennessee to 4-7 but has now won three straight meetings between the teams. The current six-match winning streak ties for the eleventh longest in program history while five consecutive true road wins rank as the third longest such streak for LA Tech.

Epps’ singles victory was her forty-fifth career dual match win—a mark tied for ninth most in program history—while Walker provided her third match-clinching point of the season. Tsironi and Brook recorded their seventh doubles win together this year.

LA Tech will return home to host Missouri State and Grambling State in a doubleheader on Saturday, March 14 at the LA Tech Tennis Complex with play beginning at 11 a.m.
