The Louisiana Tech men’s and women’s track teams are preparing for their fourth indoor meet of the season, which will also be their third appearance at the Randal Tyson Track Center. The Tyson Invitational is scheduled to take place in Fayetteville, Arkansas, on Friday, February 13 and Saturday, February 14.
The event will feature a range of participating teams including Arkansas, Arizona, Florida, LSU, Texas, UCLA, and others alongside Louisiana Tech. Competition will begin with track events at noon and field events at 1 p.m. on Friday. On Saturday, field events start at 10:30 a.m., followed by track events at 11 a.m. Fans can watch live coverage on SEC Network+ or follow results online.
At their previous competition in Fayetteville during the Woo Pig Invite on February 7, Louisiana Tech achieved eight top-five finishes and secured a total of 17 top-10 outcomes.
Heading into this weekend’s meet, Louisiana Tech has 21 athletes ranked in the top ten of Conference USA (CUSA) performances in their respective events; fifteen are within the top five. The women’s 4×400 relay team—Osaretin Joy Usenbor, Jamara Patterson, Nia Wiley and Jenaia Williams—currently leads CUSA standings and ranks among the top sixty nationally in NCAA Division I.
Patterson and Usenbor are both listed among CUSA’s top five for the women’s 400 meters. Patterson is tied for sixty-second nationally entering this weekend and holds CUSA’s best time in the women’s 200 meters; Jaitlyn Ware follows closely behind in third place.
On the men’s side, Sabastian Bradley-Reed ranks third in CUSA for the men’s 400 meters while Rickey Williams III is fourth; Bradley-Reed also holds fifth position in the men’s 200 meters.
Freshman Tyrica Sterrett currently holds CUSA’s third-fastest time in the women’s 60-meter dash and is tied for tenth place in the women’s 200 meters.
Other notable LA Tech performers include Madonna Favour (60m), Lukundo Kapambalala (60m), Karo Oghomi (60m), A’reil Williams (high jump), Cobe Johnson (long jump), Tia Reder (triple jump), and Kaitlyn Washington (shot put/weight throw). Each athlete enters this final regular-season indoor meet ranked within CUSA’s top ten for their event.
