Louisiana Tech’s softball team will travel to Monroe on Apr. 8 for a matchup against the University of Louisiana at Monroe, marking their second meeting this season. The game is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. at the ULM Softball Complex and will be available to stream on ESPN+.
This game is significant as it continues a longstanding rivalry between the two teams, with Louisiana Tech currently leading the all-time series 74-42. Their last encounter in February saw LA Tech secure a narrow 3-2 victory in an 11-inning contest decided by Bradi Gallaway’s walk-off home run.
Head coach Josh Taylor has achieved a record of six wins and three losses against ULM since taking over in 2022. LA Tech enters this contest with a record of 21-18 overall and stands at 7-8 in Conference USA play after winning two out of three games against Middle Tennessee last weekend. During that series, LA Tech outhit their opponent and set a single-game hit record under Taylor’s leadership, with Allie Furr leading offensively alongside strong performances from Gracie Flores and Gallaway.
Gallaway was recently named Conference USA Freshman of the Week after hitting .412 over four games, contributing eight runs batted in and scoring three times without striking out. Senior pitcher Allie Floyd leads the team statistically with nine wins, a 2.82 earned run average, over one hundred innings pitched, two shutouts, nine complete games, and eighty-six strikeouts so far this season.
ULM approaches Wednesday’s game holding a record of 25-18 overall (8-4 Sun Belt), having won six out of its last seven games including recent conference victories. The Warhawks are led by Hollie Thomas offensively and Ashanti McDade on the mound.
The next chapter in this regional rivalry offers both teams another opportunity to build momentum as they approach key stretches within their respective conferences.
