Louisiana Tech’s softball team split its games on the second day of the Mardi Gras Mambo in Youngsville, Louisiana, improving its season record to 7-2. The Bulldogs lost their first game of the day to St. Thomas with a score of 8-2 but rebounded with a 7-3 victory over SIU-Edwardsville.

In the loss against St. Thomas, both teams remained scoreless for two innings before St. Thomas took the lead in the third. Louisiana Tech tied it up in the fifth when Alannah Rogers scored on a single by Reagan Marchant. However, St. Thomas quickly regained control, scoring three runs in their half of the inning and adding four more in the sixth, including two two-run home runs. Elena Heng scored for LA Tech in the seventh after reaching base on a fielder’s choice and coming home on a wild pitch.

Reagan Marchant led LA Tech offensively with three hits and one RBI in game one, while Bradi Gallaway contributed one hit. Allie Floyd was charged with the loss after pitching five innings and striking out six batters.

The Bulldogs responded in their second game by hitting three home runs against SIUE. Marchant opened scoring with a solo home run—her second of the event—in the first inning. After SIUE tied it up in the second, LA Tech steadily added runs across several innings, highlighted by home runs from Gallaway and Reese Torres. Torres’ seventh-inning homer was her first as a Bulldog and brought her career total to 12.

Laney Johnson pitched all seven innings for LA Tech against SIUE, allowing three runs on eight hits and recording four strikeouts without giving up any extra-base hits.

Following these results:
– Louisiana Tech now holds a 9-5 all-time record at Mardi Gras Mambo events.
– The win over SIUE marks LA Tech’s first ever against that program.
– The Bulldogs are now 1-2 all-time versus St. Thomas.
– Reagan Marchant reached her 20th career home run milestone and tallied her 15th multi-hit game.
– Bradi Gallaway recorded back-to-back two-hit games.
– Three different Bulldogs homered in a single game for the first time since February 18, 2025.
– Allie Floyd achieved five or more strikeouts for the 28th time in her career during game one.

LA Tech will conclude its participation in this year’s Mardi Gras Mambo with a matchup against Georgia State scheduled for Sunday morning at 10:00 a.m.
