Louisiana Tech softball will play its first home game of the season on Tuesday, hosting Northwestern State at Dr. Billy Bundrick Field. The matchup is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. and will be available to stream on ESPN+.

The Bulldogs have started their season with ten consecutive games away from home and currently hold an 8-2 record. In their recent tournament, the Mardi Gras Mambo, Louisiana Tech won three out of five games, securing victories over New Mexico, SIUE, and Georgia State. During the event, the team recorded 43 hits, including six home runs.

Reagan Marchant was recognized as Conference USA Player of the Week after hitting .400 with nine RBIs and three home runs in six games. Marchant’s performance included a walk-off solo homer against New Mexico and multi-hit games against Eastern Illinois and St. Thomas.

Pitching contributions have come from several players this season. Laney Johnson has a 3-0 record after pitching a complete game against SIUE. Allie Floyd leads the team in innings pitched (25) and strikeouts (25), while Ruby Fidge holds a staff-best 1.40 ERA through ten innings.

Freshman Aleah Brooks leads Louisiana Tech in hits with 14 this season, followed by Elena Heng (13), Marchant (12), and Allie Furr (10). Reese Torres leads in RBIs with 11.

Northwestern State enters the game with a 3-8 record following a weekend at the Mardi Gras Mambo where they went 2-3. The Demons are batting .262 as a team but have not hit any home runs this year; their pitchers have allowed eight homers to opponents.

Brynn Daniel leads Northwestern State offensively with a .414 average and twelve hits. JT Smith and Makynile Jones each have seven RBIs for the Demons.

On the mound for Northwestern State, Mattison Buster has appeared in nine games with a 3-3 record and carries a 2.31 ERA over more than thirty-three innings pitched.

Louisiana Tech is seeking its fourth straight win in home openers since 2023; however, Northwestern State defeated them in Ruston during the Bulldogs’ home opener two years ago.
