Louisiana Tech will travel to Georgia to face Kennesaw State at VyStar Arena on Saturday. The game is scheduled for 4 p.m. CT and will be broadcast on ESPN+ and the LA Tech Sports Network.
The Bulldogs come into the matchup with a 15-11 record, tied for third in Conference USA with an 8-7 mark. They recently defeated Jacksonville State 77-71, ending a three-game losing streak. Louisiana Tech shot 54.7 percent from the field in that game, their best performance against a Division I opponent this season, and improved to 11-0 when scoring at least 70 points.
In the win over Jacksonville State, LA Tech scored 38 of their points in the paint and have reached at least 30 paint points in 20 games this season. The team averages 34.6 paint points per game and has outscored most opponents in this area.
LA Tech also recorded a season-high 23 assists against Jacksonville State, with AJ Bates contributing 15 of those—setting a new program record for most assists in a Conference USA contest and tying for second most in a single game overall. Bates became the program’s 25th player to reach 200 career assists, achieving this milestone in just 55 games.
DJ Dudley led LA Tech with 22 points against Jacksonville State, marking his sixth game this season with at least 20 points. He leads the team with an average of 13.9 points per game overall and ranks among the top scorers during conference play.
Kaden Cooper and Avery Thomas II anchor Louisiana Tech’s rebounding efforts; both grabbed ten rebounds against Jacksonville State. Cooper ranks third in Conference USA with eight rebounds per game while Thomas II is tenth at nearly seven per contest.
Kennesaw State enters Saturday’s contest also holding a record of 15-11 (7-8 CUSA) after snapping their own three-game losing streak by defeating Missouri State. The Owls are currently tied for sixth place in the conference standings and are beginning a three-game home stretch where they have won ten out of thirteen games this season.
Kennesaw State is one of the top rebounding teams nationally, ranking among the top ten for both total rebounds (41.77 per game) and offensive rebounds (14.58 per game). The Owls have achieved double-digit offensive rebounds in nearly every contest this year.
Offensively, Kennesaw State averages more than seventy possessions per game—one of the highest rates nationally—and scores an average of over eighty-five points per outing overall, though that figure drops to about seventy-eight during conference play.
Sophomore guard RJ Johnson has taken on a larger scoring role following an injury to Simeon Cottle, who was averaging more than twenty points before being ruled out for the remainder of the season. Johnson has averaged over twenty points across his last eleven games but was limited to just one point earlier this season when these teams met—a matchup won by Louisiana Tech.
The all-time series between Kennesaw State and Louisiana Tech stands at two wins to one in favor of Kennesaw State; however, LA Tech claimed its first victory over KSU earlier this year with an eighty-two to seventy-six result.
