Louisiana Tech bowling team ranks seventh after first day at Big Red Invite

The Louisiana Tech women’s bowling team finished the first day of the Big Red Invite in seventh place out of 12 teams, recording a total pinfall of 4,993. The event is taking place in Lincoln, Nebraska.

On Friday, the Bulldogs started strong with consecutive wins against No. 7 Maryville (1,014-955) and No. 4 Wichita State (1,028-1,006). They then lost to No. 2 Vanderbilt by a score of 1,100-951 but recovered with a win over No. 8 Youngstown State (1,031-894). The day ended with a close loss to No. 14 Sam Houston (1,009-970).

Jax State leads the tournament after day one with a total pinfall of 5,506. Wichita State is second at 5,155 pins and Maryville sits third with 5,108.

The Bulldogs will resume competition on Saturday at 10 a.m., beginning traditional play against No. 3 Arkansas State.
