Louisiana Tech’s women’s bowling team ended its NCAA Tournament run on April 4 after losing two matches to Wichita State in the NCAA Regional Championship held in Arlington, Texas.
The result means Louisiana Tech did not advance to the Final Four. The competition began with a Mega Match, where Wichita State secured a narrow win in the traditional format, outscoring Louisiana Tech 1,057-1,020. Louisiana Tech responded by winning the five-game Baker portion with a score of 1,087-954, tying the match at one point each.
In the deciding best-of-seven tiebreaker that followed, Wichita State quickly took a two-point lead before Louisiana Tech narrowed it to 2-1. After another point from each side and with Wichita State leading 3-2, they closed out the tiebreaker for a final score of 4-2 and won the Mega Match overall by two points to one.
Just thirty minutes later, both teams faced off again in a winner-take-all best-of-seven Baker match. This time Wichita State won four consecutive games without reply from Louisiana Tech and advanced to the tournament’s Final Four.
