The Louisiana Tech bowling team advanced to the championship match of the NCAA Regional Tournament after winning both matches on April 3 in Arlington, Texas.
The advancement puts the Bulldogs one win away from a spot in next week’s Final Four, marking an important step for the program.
Louisiana Tech started the day with a 2-1 Mega Match victory over Bryant. After losing the traditional match by a score of 960-925, they rebounded by winning the five-game Baker set 1,053-868 and then clinched the overall win with a 4-2 result in the tiebreaker. Kylee Trexler led in scoring during the traditional match with a score of 203, followed by Jenna Stretch (194) and Juliana Kerrigan (188). Frances Davila scored 172 and Rachel Ong contributed with a score of 168.
In their second matchup against Newman, Louisiana Tech secured a straight-set victory. They won the traditional match with a score of 987-918 thanks to strong performances from Stretch (218), Kerrigan (210), and Trexler (201). Paulina Avalos added a score of 187 while Ong rolled a 171. The Bulldogs completed their sweep by taking the five-game Baker format match with a final tally of 1,006-946.
With these two wins, Louisiana Tech remains unbeaten at this stage of tournament play and will compete Saturday for an opportunity to reach collegiate bowling’s Final Four.
