The Louisiana Tech bowling team, currently ranked No. 5, is preparing for its final NCAA tournament of the regular season at the Music City Classic. The event will take place from March 6 to 8 in Smyrna, Tennessee, and is hosted by Vanderbilt University.
A total of 34 teams are scheduled to participate in the tournament. Notable competitors include Alabama A&M, Alabama State, Arkansas State (No. 3), Jacksonville State (No. 1), Maryville (No. 7), McKendree (No. 13), North Carolina A&T (No. 12), Newman (No. 15), Sacred Heart (No. 10), Sam Houston (No. 14), Tulane (No. 17), UAB (No. 21), Vanderbilt (No. 2) and Youngstown State (No. 8). The full list of participants also includes Aurora, Belmont Abbey, Carroll, Carthage, Fairleigh Dickinson, Indianapolis, Jackson State, Lewis, Long Island, Marian (Wis.), Maryland Eastern Shore, Niagara, Oklahoma Christian, Prairie View A&M, Quincy, Western Illinois, Wichita State, Wisconsin-Whitewater and Wright State.
The format for the three-day competition includes five five-game baker matches on Friday; five traditional games on Saturday; and three best-of-seven baker matches on Sunday.
Louisiana Tech heads into the weekend with a record of 62 wins and 29 losses this season and has achieved five top-five finishes as well as thirty-one victories over ranked opponents.
In their most recent outing at the Big Red Invite in late February—where they finished sixth overall with an eight-win and five-loss record—the Bulldogs secured six wins against ranked teams and recorded a total pinfall of 13,604 over three days.
Kylee Trexler was Louisiana Tech’s highest individual performer in traditional play during that event with a seventh-place finish after scoring a series total of 1,310 points across six games.
