Louisiana Tech University’s men’s and women’s track and field teams began the Tyson Invitational in Fayetteville, Arkansas, with two new indoor program records set on Friday.
Sabastian Bradley-Reed broke his own previous record in the men’s 400-meter dash, finishing with a time of 46.60 seconds. His earlier record was set at last year’s Conference USA Indoor Championships. In the women’s 400-meter dash, Jamara Patterson ran a time of 53.11 seconds, surpassing a program record that had stood since 2007.
Patterson placed in the top 20 out of 57 competitors in her event, while Bradley-Reed finished among the top 15 out of a field of 63 runners. Cobe Johnson achieved Louisiana Tech’s highest placement for the day by finishing seventh in the long jump with a season-best distance of 7.44 meters.
The Tyson Invitational will continue Saturday, starting at 10:30 a.m. Central Time with field events and running events beginning at 11 a.m. The SEC Network+ will broadcast coverage beginning at 2 p.m.
