Greg Palmer joins Louisiana Tech as women’s soccer assistant coach

Louisiana Tech University has named Greg Palmer as the new assistant coach for its women’s soccer program. The announcement was made by head coach Matt Lodge ahead of the 2026 season.

Palmer brings a broad range of experience in coaching, club development, and performance management. Before joining Louisiana Tech, he was an assistant coach at Stetson University and previously led the Shreveport Rafters, a USL 2 team. He also served as Executive Director at The Soccer Consultancy and Shreveport Football Club, following his time as Director of Coaching at Shreveport United.

After playing professionally for Millwall Football Club, Palmer moved into leadership roles in soccer coaching and program development. Since arriving in the United States in 2011, he has worked on curriculum design, coaching education programs, policies, and manuals to support various soccer organizations.

His previous work includes positions with FC Dallas, Liverpool International Academy, Millwall FC Academy, Shreveport Rafters FC, Captain Shreve, Aberaman FC, and Centenary College. In these roles, he focused on player development and operational management.

Palmer holds a degree in Football Coaching & Performance from the University of South Wales and a postgraduate certificate in Performance Coaching from the University of Stirling. He also has a UEFA A License.

He has managed large-scale soccer operations both in the UK and USA. His responsibilities have included overseeing programs with more than 5,000 players and 50 staff members. Under his leadership, these programs have generated over $1 million in funding and developed long-term strategies for growth.
