The Louisiana Tech Bulldogs softball team earned a 6-4 comeback win against Middle Tennessee on April 2, after hitting back-to-back home runs in the seventh inning at Blue Raider Softball Field.
The result is significant as it improves LA Tech’s record to 20-17 overall and 6-7 in Conference USA. The game featured strong offensive performances and key pitching that helped the Bulldogs overturn a late deficit.
Gracie Flores and Allie Furr each collected three hits, while Reagan Marchant drove in three runs, including a crucial two-run homer with two outs and two strikes in the seventh inning. Aleah Brooks followed Marchant’s blast with a solo home run, giving LA Tech its first set of back-to-back homers this season. Bryannah Campos pitched the final two innings without allowing a run to earn her fifth win of the year.
Head coach Josh Taylor said after the game: “Proud of our fight tonight. I thought [Laney] Johnson gave us a quality start and [Bryannah] Campos was fantastic. We have been looking for a spark offensively and we got it in the 7th tonight. Big at bats by [Reese] Torres, [Reagan] Marchant and [Aleah] Brooks. We will look to tomorrow and use tonight’s momentum for added confidence.”
The Bulldogs now lead their all-time series against Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU) by 17 wins to 12. Notable achievements included Flores’ career-high three hits, Furr’s tenth multi-hit game this season, Marchant’s team-leading tenth home run and thirtieth RBI of the year, Bradi Gallaway extending her on-base streak to seventeen games, Furr continuing her seven-game hit streak, Campos delivering her third consecutive scoreless outing of at least two innings, and Reese Torres being hit by pitches three times—raising her season total to eleven.
Louisiana Tech will face MTSU again tomorrow afternoon at 4:00 p.m., aiming to build on Thursday night’s momentum.
