Louisiana Tech University announced on Apr. 6 that Bradi Gallaway has been named Conference USA Freshman of the Week in softball. The recognition comes after a strong week for Gallaway, who contributed both offensively and defensively for the Lady Techsters.
Gallaway batted .412 over four games, collecting seven hits, eight runs batted in, and three runs scored. She hit two home runs and a double without striking out during the week. In a series against Middle Tennessee, she recorded multi-hit performances on consecutive days, including a grand slam that contributed to her four RBI on Saturday.
Defensively, Gallaway played shortstop and totaled seven assists with eight putouts across the week’s games. She has started all 39 games this season at shortstop and is currently batting .331 with nine home runs—second most by a true freshman in program history—and leads her team with a .619 slugging percentage.
Her achievements place her behind only Morgan Turkoly (10 home runs in 2016) for freshman home run records at Louisiana Tech. Additionally, her 36 RBI rank third among freshmen behind Turkoly (43) and Lindsay Edwards (38).
The university highlighted opportunities for fans to support LA Tech Athletics through various programs such as LTAC, Aillet Society, T-Club, Young Alumni program, and the CHAMP fund. More information can be found at BuildTheLegacy.com.
