During the first quarter of 2026, Alpine Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation was identified as Lincoln County’s second largest nursing home, according to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS).

Records show the facility held 144 beds—three more than the county average for that quarter. The center cared for an average of 113.1 residents each day over this period.

The CMS assigned Alpine Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation an overall rating of 2 out of 5, placing it below the Louisiana average rating of 2.5 for nursing homes.

Ruston Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, LLC led as the largest nursing home in Lincoln County with 157 beds, while Princeton Place-Ruston was third with 123 beds during the quarter.

As of the first quarter of 2026, Alpine Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation reported no fines or penalties.

Lincoln County, Louisiana, had three for-profit nursing homes in total.

According to U.S. Census Bureau estimates, the U.S. population of older adults continues rising as younger populations fall. Between 2020 and 2024, Americans age 65 and older grew by 13%, while the group under age 18 declined by 1.7%. Over the past century, the country’s older adult population expanded significantly, increasing from 4.9 million in 1920 to over 61 million by 2024.

A 2021 study estimates that about half of older Americans, or roughly 28 million people, could need long-term services and supports, with projections that more than a third may eventually require nursing home care.

“Living a long life is something that many of us want and could get,” said Jesse Slome, executive director of the American Association for Long-Term Care Insurance, an insurance education group. “But when we live a long life, the chances of us needing long-term care increase exponentially. But when you need that type of care, there are limited options.”
